LAS VEGAS, N.M. (AP) — A suspect in a carjacking in Sandoval County was not seriously injured when a police officer fired his weapon after a pursuit. New Mexico State Police say an officer spotted a stolen vehicle around 1 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 25. The officer tried to stop the vehicle but the suspect, 52-year-old William Wilson, fled. Authorities say after the pursuit ended, the officer fired shots. Wilson suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was arrested. A female passenger was also arrested. Investigators are trying to determine what led the officer to discharge his firearm. Police say Wilson is accused of threatening the vehicle's owner with a bladed weapon outside San Felipe Casino on Saturday. Wilson now faces multiple charges for the police pursuit and the vehicle theft.
