ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A man who pleaded guilty to a fatal shooting in northwest Albuquerque over a $30 drug debt has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Prosecutors say Ricardo Romero was sentenced Wednesday in the February 2015 killing of 43-year-old Paul Rael. Romero was one of three men charged in the case that authorities say involved a methamphetamine debt that Rael owed. Rael's two sons were also shot and wounded but survived. Romero pleaded guilty in February to second-degree murder, aggravated battery, abuse of a child and shooting at a dwelling. Albuquerque police say Romero and another defendant in the case have ties to a biker gang. One of the other accused shooters already has been sentenced to life in prison while the third is scheduled to be sentenced this month.
