Oct 03 Saturday
Do you want to learn how to tap into the beauty of your everyday world? We will learn to create city/landscapes that reflect the world as we see it. There is no right way to paint, but with lessons and information, we can make painting easier and hone in on your own personal style. We will delve into skills and techniques regarding color, light, composition, perspective, and narrative. I feel that in New Mexico especially it is important for people to see us not for our flagship imagery and icons, but how everyday people here live.
Oct 04 Sunday
Venture into an in-depth study of New Mexican pastel skies. The two, half day sessions will be primarily devoted to exploration of movement within one, large painting. Added focus covers high contrasts, complimentary colors and controlled mark-making to create three-dimensional imagery.
The class is appropriate for all levels with demonstrations and one-to-one assistance. Experience the thrill of the unlimited possibilities with this vibrant medium!
Oct 12 Monday
An introduction to black and white film photography, which includes learning to process film and print black and white 35mm negatives. Class will meet to take pictures near Harwood, bring the film rolls to the darkroom and develop them. Each student will then have the chance to make a contact sheet of the film strips and choose the negatives to print by learning how to analyze printable negatives. Students will then print the chosen negatives on black and white paper. Students will know how to take good exposures by learning about the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed, ISO). They will learn the importance of a good exposure on the quality of their negatives and ultimately, the quality of their photographic prints.
